Responsibilities
- Lead co-workers in the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Services department (EVS) program.
- Confer and plan with supervisory staff on job assignments, projects, and activities.
- Verify completion of all assigned duties/tasks by Environmental Services staff according to EVS procedures.
- Assist in scheduling Environmental Services staff and adjust the daily schedule to ensure proper staffing in all areas.
- Function as an Environmental Services Tech, knowing all positions and responsibilities within the department.
- When in a lead role:
- Manage hazardous materials, spills, and disaster plans.
- Assist in competencies and monitor bed tracking.
- Monitor lunch and breaks.
- Act as a liaison between EVS and customers/staff as needed.
- Coordinate projects and setups.
- Assist with room inspections (high touch areas, etc.).
- Issue keys, pagers, equipment, etc.
- Make suggestions for work improvement.
- Oversee supply and equipment use and maintenance.
- Assist in training and introducing new equipment and cleaning methods by demonstrating techniques and procedures.
- Inspect equipment and supplies for cleanliness and possible damage to ensure working condition for the next shift.
- Communicate associate performance, conduct, and issues to leadership.
- Demonstrate a commitment to customer satisfaction by improving patient and customer satisfaction scores.
- Maintain a courteous and pleasant attitude toward patients, families, and other contacts.
- Utilize appropriate chain of command in resolving complaints and grievances.
- Maintain confidential patient and departmental information.
- Present the department positively to all contacts.
- Utilize AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) with both internal and external customers.
- Demonstrate ability to identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively.
- Show a positive, supportive attitude in emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Display patience and tact when dealing with other hospital personnel.
- Train associates and assist in the department orientation process.
- Maintain licenses and certificates as appropriate.
- Fulfill operating unit competencies and required training.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- 3 years of experience, with at least one year in housekeeping.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials.
- Job responsibilities involve walking, standing, bending, climbing, and lifting throughout the workday.
- Ability to perform medium lifting: up to 35 pounds occasionally and/or 10 to 15 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly.
