About the Role

Responsible for cleaning operating rooms, transporting patients to and from Operating Room Services and transporting needed items to and from various departments in the hospital. Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains operating rooms before and after surgical procedures.
• Maintains cleaning solutions and cleaning equipment.
• Transports pediatric, adolescent, adult & geriatric patients, both inpatients & outpatients, to and from surgical suites, Pre‑op Holding, EPOH and CVICU areas.
• Transports requested items such as blood, x‑rays, pharmacy items, SPD items, charts, records and equipment between departments and surgical units; transports requested supplies in a timely, accurate manner.
• Participates in CIP, Quality Improvement and evaluation activities and implements measures to ensure that hospital, DNV and other quality standards are met.
• Maintains principles of aseptic technique according to hospital policy, procedure and AORN standards.
• Maintains and stores equipment in a clean/safe condition.
• Stocks and maintains proper par levels of supplies such as blankets, brushes, etc., in the assigned surgical unit.
• Recognizes and responds appropriately to environmental safety factors.
• Performs other job functions as assigned.

Requirements

Education / Formal Training: High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).

Work Experience: Preferred experience with neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient/customers.

Licenses and Certifications: HEARTSAVER – American Heart Association (required).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to comprehend verbal instructions given in English.
• Ability to read, write, understand, and effectively communicate in English while performing repetitive tasks.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to organize and complete tasks.

Physical Demands

The role requires climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. Heavy work may involve exerting up to 100 lb of force occasionally and up to 50 lb frequently. Close visual acuity is required to assess accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.
