About the Role
The incumbent is primarily responsible for the routine maintenance of the floors and carpets in all patient rooms, offices, and public areas within the hospital. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in the organization's Mission, Vision, and Values.
Responsibilities
- Dust mops, wet mops, and vacuums floors.
- Periodically polishes floors using buffing machines according to procedures.
- Strips and refinishes floors and shampoos carpets according to procedures.
- Maintains and stores equipment in a safe and clean condition; ensures that all equipment malfunctions are reported in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Ability to read written instructions and comprehend verbal instructions given in English.
- Ability to maintain working relationships with co-workers.
- Ability to set priorities and coordinate multiple tasks.
Qualifications
No formal education or prior work experience required.
Physical Demands
The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination.
- Heavy work: exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
- Close visual acuity required for activities such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, or extensive reading.
- Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
