About the role
The Optometrist will provide professional optometry services to the inmate population at the Federal Correctional Complex Hazelton in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive optometric examinations
- Evaluate visual acuity and ocular health
- Diagnose and manage common visual and ocular conditions within the authorized scope of practice
- Prescribe corrective lenses when clinically indicated
- Review relevant medical history and clinical documentation
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Coordinate patient care with BOP healthcare personnel
- Follow institutional clinical, security, and documentation procedures
- Protect confidential health information
- Comply with applicable Federal Bureau of Prisons policies and facility requirements
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution
- Current and unrestricted professional optometry license
- Ability to perform comprehensive optometric examinations
- Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Ability to satisfy applicable Federal background, credentialing, and facility-access requirements
