Optometrist
About the role
The Medical College of Wisconsin's Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences is seeking an Optometrist to join our expanding team. This position will be primarily located at the Eye Institute, Milwaukee, WI (Froedtert Hospital Campus) with days per week at satellite clinics.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive optometric services for patients of the Eye Institute and affiliated clinics.
- Work with Eye Institute and affiliated clinic staff to promote high customer service and satisfaction to maximize productivity and to ensure access for patients seeking optometric services.
- Participate in Eye Institute system-wide quality improvement projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of comprehensive, medically oriented optometric care.
- Proficient in refraction, ocular disease diagnosis, and management.
- Experience with contact lens fitting and management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective communicator with patients, physicians, and the general public.
- Commitment to advancing MCW’s academic missions in clinical care, education, and scholarly activity.
Qualifications
- Minimum Required Education: Doctorate in Optometry.
- Post-graduate residency in appropriate optometric specialty.
- Preferred Education: Doctorate in Optometry.
- Accredited post-graduate residency in appropriate optometric specialty.
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited school or college; eligibility for a Wisconsin Optometric license.
