Schedule

• Full-time position
• Office hours: Monday–Friday 8 am–6 pm, Saturday 8 am–1 pm
• Must have open availability to work any shift within these hours, including occasional earlier or later shifts as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Basic computer skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Excitement to learn and grow
• Favorable result on background check
• Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient flow and assist the doctor in preliminary testing
• Verify medical and vision insurances
• Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers
• Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in-person requests
• Operate optical equipment including manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX, or OCT
• Follow scripting for testing equipment (photos, visual fields, visual activity, etc.)
• Clean all examination equipment, including tonometer tip
• Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by manager
• Commitment to work hours that meet business needs, which may include weekends, schedule changes, or extended hours
• Embrace and execute the Total Patient Experience to build relationships with patients while delivering great medical support
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA
• Practice urgency at all times, valuing both the patient’s and doctor’s time
• Interact courteously and professionally with all levels of employees
• Consistently create a positive, team-oriented, and patient-focused work environment

Qualifications

• Previous medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred
• Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Work is primarily performed in a standard office or clinical setting; occasional travel to other locations may be required
• Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%)
• Regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%)
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
• Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands for constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology
• Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus—required 100% of the time
• Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary
