About the role
The Optometric Technician plays a critical role in providing data essential for doctors to deliver proper patient care and treatment. This position involves a mix of administrative and clinical duties, ensuring quality standards are met while enhancing the patient experience through effective communication.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by explaining preliminary testing procedures.
- Perform all preliminary and doctor-requested tests on patients.
- Assist optometrists and ophthalmologists with patient procedures.
- Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow, communicating delays as needed.
- Prepare exam rooms by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and inviting environment for patients and staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Standing for sustained periods, stooping, grasping, lifting, talking, and hearing.
- Light work: must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. regularly from floor to waist, 5 lbs. from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs. from shoulder to overhead.
- Visual acuity required to ensure accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned tasks.
