About the role

The Optometric Technician plays a critical role in providing data essential for doctors to deliver proper patient care and treatment. This position involves a mix of administrative and clinical duties, ensuring quality standards are met while enhancing the patient experience through effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for eye examinations by explaining preliminary testing procedures.
  • Perform all preliminary and doctor-requested tests on patients.
  • Assist optometrists and ophthalmologists with patient procedures.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow, communicating delays as needed.
  • Prepare exam rooms by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and inviting environment for patients and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Standing for sustained periods, stooping, grasping, lifting, talking, and hearing.
  • Light work: must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. regularly from floor to waist, 5 lbs. from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs. from shoulder to overhead.
  • Visual acuity required to ensure accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned tasks.
