Grene Vision Group is looking for an enthusiastic Optometric Technician to join our team in El Dorado, KS. No prior medical or eyecare experience is required—we provide full training.

About the Role

An Optometric Technician is a valuable asset to an optometrist, assisting in providing a world-class Total Patient Experience. This team member handles a wide range of duties, including operating optical equipment to perform initial testing and prepare patients for exams with an Optometrist.

Responsibilities

  • Embrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support
  • Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and thank them when they leave
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA
  • Practice urgency at all times, valuing a patient's time as well as the doctor's time and schedule
  • Operate manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX, or OCT
  • Follow scripting for testing equipment (photos, visual fields, visual acuity, etc.)
  • Clean all examination equipment, including tonometer tip
  • Set phoropter to patient RX or reset to plano (per doctor's request)
  • Facilitate patient flow and assist the doctor in preliminary testing
  • Verify medical and vision insurances
  • Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers
  • Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in-person requests
  • Interact with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner at all times
  • Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by manager
  • Demonstrate initiative in accomplishing practice goals
  • Consistently create a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused
  • Commit to work hours that meet the needs of the business, which may include weekends, schedule changes, or an extended schedule
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service
  • Perform other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Management (preferred)
  • Previous medical office experience (preferred); previous optometric experience (strongly preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Favorable result on background check as required by state
  • Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong customer service skills and excitement to learn and grow

Work takes place in a normal office/clinical environment. Travel to other locations may be necessary to fulfill essential duties and responsibilities. Must have access to dependable transportation, and driving record must meet company liability carrier standards. May be exposed to blood or bodily fluids and various cleaning supplies.

Schedule

Full-time position. Our offices are open Monday-Friday 7:30am-6pm and Saturday 8am-12pm. You will not work all of these hours but must have open availability to work any shift within these hours. Occasional earlier or later hours may be required as needed.
