About the role

Tennessee Eye Care Lenoir City, a division of Summit Medical Group, is seeking a full-time Optician to provide eyeglasses and contact lenses by filling written optical prescriptions and determining clients' current prescriptions.

Responsibilities

• Fill written optical prescriptions and determine clients' current prescriptions.
• Identify patients' needs and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames.
• Help patients select frames by offering commentary on styles, colors, and coordinating frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions.
• Ensure eyeglasses fit customers by adjusting frames.
• Educate customers by offering instructions in eyeglass and contact lens care and use.
• Sell optical goods by displaying and promoting sunglasses and optical supplies.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
• Assist with filing insurance claims.
• Review physicians' prescriptions and orders based on medical charts.
• Operate manual lensometer and other tools to achieve proper fitting for patients.
• Manage inventory of frames and contact lenses to ensure optimum customer satisfaction and product variety.
• Communicate with physicians regarding questions or concerns about prescriptions and other eye-related issues.
• Assist technicians with duties on occasion.
• Maintain strictest confidentiality both internally and externally.
• Adhere to expectations of the established corporate compliance plan.
• Actively participate in site-level Quality Improvement Activities, contributing to the continual evaluation of site performance and implementation of improvement activities.
• Perform related work as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; some vocational school or associate degree preferred.
• Experience dispensing corrective lenses preferred.
• Customer service and sales experience required.

Qualifications

• Certified Dispensing Optician preferred but not required.
• No certification or license required.
