About the role

Opticians play a crucial role in our business by selling eyewear and accessories to patients, ensuring they are fitted with appropriate frames and lenses.

Responsibilities

• Sell eyewear and accessories to patients, ensuring they are fitted with the right-size frames and lenses.
• Ensure patients understand customized recommendations for products and services.
• Develop and maintain a client base through excellent service and referrals.
• Stay updated on company and industry products, procedures, manufacturer rebates, and lens/frame options.
• Take and return patient calls, updating them on order status and resolving issues.
• Retrieve and update patient charts and electronic health records.
• Aid patients in selecting frames, lens types, and treatments, based on specific needs and measurements.
• Educate patients on proper eyewear and contact lens care.
• Measure eyes and faces to ensure proper fit and adjust eyewear as necessary.
• Create work orders for lab technicians, specifying lens details.
• Follow up on orders, verifying they meet time guidelines and informing patients of status.
• Inspect and adjust glasses, cleaning and polishing lenses, and maintaining the store's cleanliness.
• Restock retail boards and organize work areas, ensuring a professional appearance.
• Answer patients' questions about insurance, warranties, products, materials, services, pricing, upgrades, and promotions.
• Collaborate with technicians, front desk associates, managers, and optometrists.
• Sell miscellaneous products like cleaners, contact lens supplies, sunglasses, and safety glasses.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• One year experience as an Optician preferred
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred
• Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, experience with sales preferred
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Dependability and punctuality
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for up to 8 hours per day
