About the role
As an Optician Supervisor (Clinic Manager), you will deliver a world-class Total Patient Experience that maximizes retail sales while addressing patients’ medical needs. You will dispense and fit glasses and contact lenses based on prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists, connecting patient needs to the products and services we offer.
Responsibilities
- Embrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support.
- Determine patients' wants and needs and sell to exceed their expectations.
- Assist patients in selecting frames according to style, color, facial measurements, and optical prescriptions.
- Operate auto-lensometer and manual lensometer.
- Educate and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit patient needs.
- Accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt.
- Dispense patient orders and repair or adjust frames.
- Process all glasses and/or contact lens orders in E360.
- Ensure adherence to all job aids and policies.
- Maintain frame standards, including cleaning and organizing fully stocked, well-presented areas.
- Follow protocols to keep frame inventory accurate.
- Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by the manager.
- Assist with other duties in the office as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One year of experience in a customer-facing role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current ABO/ABOC and NCLE certifications preferred (or obtained within the first two years of employment).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret insurance forms, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding protected health information (PHI).
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%).
- Regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%).
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 25 lbs.
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands for constant grasping, writing/typing, and technology use.
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus—required 100% of the time.
- Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary.
