Optical/Laser Assembly Technician

Responsibilities
- Interprets operation sheets, drawings, diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and written instructions.
- Inspects in-process assemblies as part of methods of operations.
- Analyzes data with specifications through data logs and work instruction sheets.
- Cleans hardware of various materials with a multitude of solvents.
- Works under microscopes for long periods of time to assemble, align, rework, repair, wire, test, and calibrate various optical products and components.
- Maintains logbooks, tolerance sheets, shop orders, and other required documentation.
- Communicates with engineers, managers, and other technicians on process statuses, issues, and suggestions.
- Performs other tasks directed by Management to satisfy company objectives.
Requirements
- Has working knowledge of hand tools, microscopes, oscilloscopes, vision systems, vacuum systems, assembly equipment, electronic equipment, and processing equipment.
- Capable of working independently as well as within a cross-functional team of both engineers and technicians on both production and R&D.
- Detail-oriented and a demonstrated background working with tight tolerance hardware.
- Hands-on experience with one of the following preferred: lasers, mirrors/lenses/prisms, optical metrology, optical or electronics assembly, optical alignment, inertial navigation systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Experience working with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience with optical/laser precision parts assembly methods.
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and up to 5 lbs. for extended periods of time.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Knowledge of parts inspection.
- Previous experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.
- Previous experience working in ISO9001/AS9100 certified manufacturing facilities preferred.
- Previous experience working in cleanrooms (ISO Class 4 through Class 7) preferred.

Pay
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $25.00 - $38.00 hourly. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
