Assembly & Fabrication Technician
Position Overview
As an Assembly & Fabrication Manufacturing Technician, you will perform hands-on assembly, fabrication, testing, process development, and facility support for complex mechanical systems. You will coordinate with engineering, quality, project teams, and operations to support safe and high-quality production.
Location
On-site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Your Day-to-Day as an Assembly & Fab/Mfg. Technician
- Execute fabrication and assembly of complex components and test equipment.
- Support fabrication, assembly, testing, and inspection of mechanical components and systems.
- Aid in developing and qualifying advanced manufacturing technologies and new processes.
- Assemble prototype and production equipment.
- Operate machine tools, hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment.
- Support QC for in-process and final component inspection.
- Maintain shop and lab cleanliness and organization.
- Aid in developing or contributing to work instructions and procedures.
- Operate fork trucks, lifts, and shop equipment.
- Support facility installations, modifications, and equipment additions.
- Cook up with engineering, EHS, project controls, and management.
- Follow project schedules and budgets for assigned tasks.
- Support problem-solving efforts and provide feedback on system behaviors.
- Provide technical support for assembly, testing, and inspection tasks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in fabrication, facility operations, or technical environments (degree may substitute).
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Strong relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SolidWorks a plus.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE or DOD clearance; active clearance preferred.

Pay
The starting hourly rate for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $36.53 and $57.21 per hour. The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
