Optical Engineering Lead

Responsibilities

• Support the design, analysis, and development of advanced optical and electro-optical systems for aerospace and defense applications.
• Lead optical system architecture, performance modeling, analysis, troubleshooting, and verification activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, testability, and integration of optical designs.
• Generate technical documentation, support hardware builds, testing, and system integration.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to risk mitigation and process improvements.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience (or higher degrees with fewer years).
• Strong background in optical system engineering, including imaging/sensing systems, stray light analysis, and familiarity with tools like FRED, CodeV, Zemax, Matlab, and Python.
• Experience with space-based EO/IR systems, optical metrology, and project management.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
• Security clearance eligibility preferred.
