About the Role
Lead optical engineering efforts specializing in stray light analysis for advanced optical and electro-optical systems in aerospace and defense applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and develop optical systems.
- Lead non-sequential stray light and radiometric modeling.
- Support system performance verification.
- Perform end-to-end optical performance analyses.
- Contribute to design trades and mitigation strategies.
- Generate technical documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Troubleshoot optical issues.
- Support hardware integration and testing.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Continuously improve engineering processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of experience, or relevant extensive experience.
- Proficiency with stray light analysis tools like FRED.
- Knowledge of optical design software (CodeV, Zemax).
- Experience with space-based EO/IR systems.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage technical projects and understand the full product lifecycle.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with optical metrology.
- Programming languages (Matlab, Python).
- Active security clearances (secret or top secret).
