About the Role

Lead optical engineering efforts specializing in stray light analysis for advanced optical and electro-optical systems in aerospace and defense applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and develop optical systems.
  • Lead non-sequential stray light and radiometric modeling.
  • Support system performance verification.
  • Perform end-to-end optical performance analyses.
  • Contribute to design trades and mitigation strategies.
  • Generate technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Troubleshoot optical issues.
  • Support hardware integration and testing.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of experience, or relevant extensive experience.
  • Proficiency with stray light analysis tools like FRED.
  • Knowledge of optical design software (CodeV, Zemax).
  • Experience with space-based EO/IR systems.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage technical projects and understand the full product lifecycle.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with optical metrology.
  • Programming languages (Matlab, Python).
  • Active security clearances (secret or top secret).
