What is the role about?
This position is responsible for performing assigned and varied tasks supporting the manufacturing department with the assembly and testing of precision laser and optical assemblies. This position performs all tasks under supervision. The work is routine with some special assignments or tasks.
Essential Functions
- Perform bench-type processes in a clean environment involving a high degree of manual dexterity, visual acuity, math and measurement.
- Responsible for mounting, bonding, cleaning and testing optical components, lens elements, and subassemblies.
- High density soldering with the use of magnification.
- Examining parts for surface defects and reporting defective materials or questionable conditions to the department manager.
- Align, fit, and assemble component parts into completed units.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
- May work at different workstations as production needs require or shift from one station to another during the assembly process.
- Ensure that a safe work environment and safety work practices are maintained at all times.
Qualifications
- This intermediate position requires the knowledge of and application of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures in optical and electronics assembly.
- 2-3 years of professional experience.
- Must have an understanding and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Must have the ability to read, understand and follow work instructions and documentation and to effectively present verbal and written information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and team members.
- Must be able to set up and use basic hand tools.
- Must be able follow inspection requirements.
- Must have knowledge of ESD and safety procedures.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and work through problems should they arise.
- Must be able to adhere to a firm work schedule, with the ability to work overtime if necessary.
