About the role

The Electro-Optical Assembler II position is within Safran Defense & Space Inc., a leading U.S. aerospace company supporting national defense and space missions. This role is based in Bedford, NH, at Safran DSI Optronics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of electro-mechanical assembly operations
  • Clean and assemble optical assemblies
  • Assemble cables, plugs and wire harnesses
  • Proficiency working with hand tools and using adhesives
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions
  • Record test and build data into databases as assemblies are tested
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly and organized work area
  • Responsible for safe handling of all solvents and epoxies
  • To assure conformance to quality standards, including sterilization and packaging prior to shipment
  • Maintains excellent attendance record, works independently and is reliable
  • Able to effectively train co-workers at various workstations
  • Proficient at all levels of production (assemble, align and test) on a product line
  • Overall knowledge of inventory control

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of electro optical or electro mechanical assembly experience
  • Ability to perform well and maintain production flow under noisy and disruptive situations
  • Excellent dexterity and good eyesight
  • Experience with ESD safety requirements
  • Experience with optics handling and cleaning
  • Experience with optics handling, bonding and cleaning
  • Able to self-check and inspect work in process
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status

Qualifications

  • Active IPC-610 soldering certification
  • Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Familiar with standard shop practices used in defense-related industries
  • Experience with ISO-9000 series of standards or other similar standards
  • Experience working in an ITAR environment

Skills

  • Strong dexterity and vision skills
  • Proficiency with hand tools and adhesives
  • Ability to work independently and maintain production flow
  • Knowledge of inventory control
