Responsibilities
- Reads blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and assembly and schematic drawings, and receives verbal instructions regarding work assignment.
- Routes and laces cables.
- Installs components and parts such as switches, coils, transformers, relays, transistors, and semiconductor circuits on chassis, circuit boards, panels, and other units.
- Routes and attaches wires and connectors to form circuitry and connects assembly to power supply sources, switch panels, or junction boxes.
- Attaches hardware and seals assembly.
- Examine parts for defects such as pinholes or chips. Replaces defective components and wiring.
- Assembles mechanical, electronic, and optical systems by using drawing and travelers.
- Repairs defective units rejected by inspection or test personnel.
- Aligns and clamps parts together, or positions items in fixtures, jigs, or vise.
- Reads instructions such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly.
- Attaches ends of wires to components, plugs, or terminal strip.
- Cables in plastic connectors.
- Tests wiring continuity with continuity tester.
- Marks identifying data on completed harness.
Qualifications
- Experience in electro-optics assembly and testing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and process sheets.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and practices.
- Basic understanding of optical and mechanical engineering concepts.
- Attention to detail and ability to work accurately with precision tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks.
