About the role

Assumes responsibility for the overall day-to-day cleaning and security of the physical plant, including floors, entrances, surfaces, walls, furniture, fixtures, and the removal of soiled linen and refuse to ensure safe and sanitary operation of the building, equipment, and grounds. Also responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of the Hospital’s Laundry Department.

Functions as a member of the support team under the direction of the Manager of Operations, working with all staff to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Organization and excellent service to clients.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety and security of patients, residents, visitors, and staff through inspections of building furniture and equipment to identify and eliminate hazards.
• Performs security-related tasks such as locking and unlocking the building, monitoring staff-only areas, and assisting with security services during emergencies.
• Ensures all linen is properly cleaned, folded, and in sufficient supply to meet the needs of the Organization and clients.
• Provides shift coverage on short notice as required.
• Adheres to all policies and procedures.
• Supports and demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of Deep River and District Health.
• Performs other duties as assigned, which may extend beyond the scope of an individual department.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Housekeeping training/certification preferred.
• Infection Prevention and Control training/certification preferred.
• Gentle Persuasive Approach certification preferred.
• Related experience in an acute care hospital or Long-Term Care setting preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and coordinate tasks with team members.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
