Job Summary
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking an OPS Park Ranger to oversee recreation areas including boat ramps and facilities like bathhouses, camping units, and hunt camps. The position involves interacting with visitors, providing information about rules and safety, resolving complaints, and performing minor maintenance.
Job Duties
- Interact with visitors, providing information about recreation area rules and directions, and ensuring their safety.
- Explain facilities and services available for public use.
- Resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as site and campsite cleaning, trail monitoring, signage maintenance, litter removal, repairs, tree maintenance, and removal, and fence installation/mending.
- Enforce recreation area rules and regulations across the forest.
- Coordinate recreation areas for special events and assist with prescribed burning.
- Record and submit monthly reports on recreation area users.
- Operate and maintain all mechanical equipment used in recreation areas.
- Work independently in remote areas and coordinate with volunteers and staff on team projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver's license.
- Occasional to moderate travel required.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and travel to various recreation areas as needed.
