Ophthamology Medical Science Liaison

Responsibilities

• Engage in peer-to-peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals.
• Translate scientific insights into meaningful interactions.
• Establish, cultivate, and maintain scientific relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs).
• Develop a deep understanding of clinical practices relevant to areas of interest.
• Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for assigned customers.
• Communicate clinical and scientific data through presentations, educational programs, and discussions.
• Provide support for addressing unsolicited medical questions and other scientific exchanges.
• Identify, gather, and document field-generated scientific insights to drive innovative Medical Affairs strategies.
• Maintain a comprehensive scientific and clinical knowledge base through continuous learning and awareness of related literature.
• Collaborate with field-based Medical colleagues, Commercial colleagues, and the broader organization to share scientific expertise and insights.

Requirements

• Advanced degree required (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, PA, OD or equivalent in life sciences).
• 3+ years of prior Medical Science Liaison experience (preferably in eye care).
• Deep scientific knowledge and genuine passion for ophthalmology.
• Prior experience with payer presentations is a plus.
• Strong ability to interpret and communicate complex clinical and scientific data.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 60–80% within assigned territory.

Pay

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $180,000-$197,500. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include a company car or car allowance and eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and/or individual performance.
