About the role
Under the direction of an Ophthalmologist, the Ophthalmology Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry and lensometry. Prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Effectively utilizes Valley Children's systems, software and modules to perform job-related functions. Documents all pertinent information in a precise, clear manner. Functions as a patient care team member assisting licensed staff in the performance and provision of safe, service-oriented and efficient patient care.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/G.E.D. is required. Program graduation from an Ophthalmic Technology Program or equivalent experience is preferred. Two years in a similar role may be substituted for patient care program.
Requirements
- BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
- COT - Certified Ophthalmic Technician or COA - Certified Ophthalmic Assistant is preferred
- Minimum six months providing direct patient care is preferred
- Minimum one year assisting in a medical office or hospital is preferred
Skills
- Bilingual skills are preferred
- Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple priorities in a timely manner
- Medical terminology skills are preferred
Pay
The compensation range for this position is $25.36 - $36.70 per hour.
Schedule
This is a day shift position, scheduled to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
