Ophthalmic Technician / Scribe - Willing to Train!

About the role

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient flow
• Assist the doctor in preliminary testing
• Verify medical and vision insurances
• Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, and managers
• Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in-person

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• Favorable result on Background Check
• Basic computer skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Excitement to learn and grow

Skills

• Dilation
• Refraction
• Pressures
• Diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor and topography
• Working knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications
• Accurate and thorough documentation of medical visits and procedures
• Understanding of examination and procedure codes (ICD-9 codes)
• Accuracy in procedure coding/charges and diagnosis codes
• Preparation of patients for treatments and minor procedures
• Measurement and recording of vital signs (blood pressure, pulse and respiration rate)
• Cleaning and stocking of examination, treatment, laser and other assigned rooms

Competitive base pay is offered based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Full Time. Our offices are open from Monday-Friday 7am-7pm. Your shifts will fall within these hours, and you may need to work a little earlier/later as needed.
