About the role

The Ophthalmic Technician Lead at Sight360 is responsible for providing lead support to technicians, scheduling them according to clinic flow, ensuring they are well-trained, and addressing patient and doctor concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participating in the hiring process.
  • Scheduling technicians according to clinic flow, including filling in for technicians when needed.
  • Working with employees, managers, and stakeholders to maintain an efficient clinic workflow.
  • Assigning cleaning duties, side work, and non-workup tasks as required.
  • Auditing charts and conducting time studies to ensure technicians meet expectations.
  • Training new technicians on procedures, protocols, and EMR usage.
  • Implementing continual training for technicians and coordinating with physicians on technician issues.
  • Maintaining certifications and supporting new technicians in becoming certified.
  • Ordering clinic supplies, coordinating repairs or replacements for damaged equipment, and ensuring Milestone Performance Standards (MiPs) are met.
  • Addressing patient concerns, complaints, or questions.
  • Maintaining site-specific policies such as attendance, dress code, ethics codes, etc.
  • Ensuring equipment is properly maintained and educating technicians on correct usage and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Minimum Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification is required.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification is preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in ophthalmology is required.
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

  • Ability to multitask effectively and maintain attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to perform all duties required of technicians, including manifest refractions, Goldmann applanation, and site-specific testing.
