Responsible for

• Makes visual acuity measurements at distance and near as needed.
• Performs sensory and color vision tests.
• Documents patient/family chief complaints, medical, ocular, and family histories accurately.
• Records medications and allergies.
• Aids in minor outpatient surgical procedures.
• Operates and maintains imaging and other ophthalmic equipment.
• Cleans and stocks ophthalmic examination rooms with supplies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1-3 years of experience in ophthalmic imaging.
• Knowledge of medical office practices and medical terminology.
• Ability to operate ophthalmic equipment.
• Attention to detail in clinical and contractual settings.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Interpersonal skills for successful interactions with physicians, other associates, and patients/families.
• Conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of medical office practices and medical terminology.
• Ability to operate automated and non-automated ophthalmic equipment.
• Close visual acuity, including color, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
• Reacts quickly to emergency situations.
