Responsible for
- Makes visual acuity measurements at distance and near as needed.
- Performs sensory and color vision tests.
- Documents patient/family chief complaints, medical, ocular, and family histories accurately.
- Records medications and allergies.
- Aids in minor outpatient surgical procedures.
- Operates and maintains imaging and other ophthalmic equipment.
- Cleans and stocks ophthalmic examination rooms with supplies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1-3 years of experience in ophthalmic imaging.
- Knowledge of medical office practices and medical terminology.
- Ability to operate ophthalmic equipment.
- Attention to detail in clinical and contractual settings.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Interpersonal skills for successful interactions with physicians, other associates, and patients/families.
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of medical office practices and medical terminology.
- Ability to operate automated and non-automated ophthalmic equipment.
- Close visual acuity, including color, depth perception, and field of vision.
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
- Reacts quickly to emergency situations.
