About the role
We are seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to collaborate closely with clinic physicians in performing a range of basic to complex eye care functions. The role involves documenting patient medical histories, inputting treatment recommendations, and assisting with procedures such as lensometry, diagnostic testing (HVF, HRT, IOLmaster, fundus photography), and ocular measurements (color vision, B AT, Schirmer, Amsler grid). Additional duties include administering topical medications, performing tonometry, maintaining sterilization protocols, assisting with punctal plugs, and communicating post-operative instructions effectively.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of medical or ophthalmic scribing experience (preferred)
- High school diploma or GED; some college coursework or an associate degree (preferred)
- JCAHPO certification and CPR (preferred)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
- Knowledge of ocular pharmacology and HIPAA compliance; proficiency in EMR
- Additional language skills are highly desirable
