About the Role
The Utility Operator must be able to operate multiple pieces of equipment depending on particular requirements and interfaces daily with the rest of the operations at this location. Every work activity is crucial for the whole operation and must be performed correctly, accurately, and in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities
- Operate a loader, excavator, haul truck, grader, bulldozer, skid steer, and water truck
- Load tractor trailers and dump trucks
- Keep facility clean and organized
- Build and strip forms
- Mix and pour concrete and castables
- Perform or assist with minor maintenance and repairs
- Assist in clean-up before and after maintenance work
- Communicate and cooperate with truckers and customers
- Record downtime and actions taken
- Refuel and clean equipment
- Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and/or MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
- Meet or exceed company safety standards
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
Working Conditions
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location
Physical Requirements
- Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
- Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Must be able to talk and hear to communicate safely around heavy rolling equipment
- Must be able to push, turn, and/or pull controls
- Must pass physical exam including back x-ray, hearing test, and drug/alcohol screen
