About the role
Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Pouring Operator at our Conover, NC manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for efficiently and safely operating the controls for the feed and metering pumps, recording pour log data, and monitoring top and bottom paper rolls. Employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining best-in-class quality standards.
The successful candidate will communicate with department supervisors and pour line personnel daily and maintain a well-organized work area to achieve production and shipping schedules.
Responsibilities
- Set up the PLC for production
- Monitor and operate the PLC during production
- Monitor the foam recipe in the PLC area during production
- Monitor TDI, replace monitoring tape as required
- Record data on Pour Logs
- Organize Pour Logs and pour production paperwork
- Monitor the top and bottom paper as it unwinds
- Change the top and bottom paper trim windup
- Load top and bottom paper rolls and prepare the rolls for production (requires forklift)
- Operate the tank farm pumps and temperature control system via HMI
- Operate the compressors and chiller via touchpad
- Monitor feed and finishing filters via PC
- Be a member of the spill response team
- Forklift operation
Requirements
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Ability to work in a continuous fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others
- Basic computer knowledge and the ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, if needed
- Ability to operate machinery proficiently
- Ability to read and interpret a tape measure
- Familiar with SAP preferred (will train)
- High School Diploma or GED
Qualifications
- Forklift Certified (preferred)
- Haz Comm Level 2
- HAZWOPER (Haz Mat Spill Team)
- Respirator certification
- Hazardous Materials, Hazardous Waste, Universal Waste training
- Fire Extinguisher and Fire Hose certification
Required testing: Pulmonary Function Test, Respirator Fit Test.

6:00 AM – 2:30 PM or depending on business needs.
Pay
Hourly rate: $23.69 – $24.55.
