Operator PBX PRN
Job Summary
The PBX Operator is responsible for ensuring efficient communication within, to and from the hospital in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner and according to standard operating procedure. Your commitment to service, safety and professionalism will contribute to achieving the best experience for our patients.
What you will do in this role
- Cheerfully greet and assist external and internal callers on multiple incoming telephone lines.
- Provide information/phone numbers to callers as requested or make sufficient inquiries necessary to refer the caller to the appropriate hospital personnel or department.
- Execute overhead paging for authorized reasons when requested to do so by the appropriate staff.
- Understand hospital emergency codes and alarms and the effect they have on patient care and safety, and coordinate emergency code responses assuring the proper personnel are notified.
- Monitor all alarms located in PBX and notify appropriate personnel as required.
- Assist with updating the facility, phone directories and on-call lists.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Basic knowledge and operation of a switchboard and accepted call handling procedures.
