Operator Loader

About the role

The Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner, and must also clean, maintain, and secure all equipment as directed by policies, procedures, and operator manuals.

Responsibilities

• Operate front-end loader to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage areas, feed conveyors, hoppers, and load trucks or railcars
• Start engine, shift gears, press pedals, and turn steering wheel to operate loader
• Move levers to lower and tilt bucket and drive front-end loader to force bucket into bulk materials
• Move levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drive vehicle to work site, and move levers to dump material
• Verify amount of aggregate in storage bins and fill hoppers to ensure adequate quantity and quality of raw materials
• Perform routine maintenance on loaders, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning
• Participate in ensuring quality and quantity of raw materials meets established standards
• Ensure assigned performance indicators are met
• Work toward improvement of the assigned plant and surrounding area
• Follow established procedures to ensure plant compliance with state, federal, and local regulations
• Participate in ongoing minor maintenance and visual evaluations of plant and equipment
• Confer with plant superintendent, batch person, and other personnel to resolve problems, provide immediate feedback, and recommend solutions to improve performance
• May haul cement and/or additives from storage area in bulk or bags
• Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
• Meet or exceed company safety standards
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Bilingual a plus

Requirements

• Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
• Must wear protective equipment while at the location
• Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
• Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
• Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods
• Regularly required to talk and hear to communicate with employees/visitors and function safely around heavy rolling equipment
• Must be able to perform all job functions including pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
