About the role
The Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner, cleaning, maintaining, and securing all equipment as directed by policies, procedures, and operator manuals.
Responsibilities
- Operate front-end loader to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage areas, feed conveyors, hoppers, and load trucks or railcars
- Start engine, shift gears, press pedals, and turn steering wheel to operate loader
- Move levers to lower and tilt bucket, drive loader to force bucket into bulk materials
- Move levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drive vehicle to work site, and dump material
- Verify amount of aggregate in storage bins and fill hoppers to maintain adequate quantity and quality of raw materials
- Perform routine maintenance on loaders, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning
- Ensure quality and quantity of raw materials meet established standards
- Meet assigned performance indicators and work toward improvement of the plant and surrounding area
- Follow procedures to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations
- Participate in minor maintenance and visual evaluations of plant and equipment
- Confer with plant superintendent, batch person, and other personnel to resolve problems and provide feedback
- May haul cement and/or additives from storage area in bulk or bags
- Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations; wear proper safety equipment
- Meet or exceed company safety standards
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write, and speak English (bilingual a plus)
Working Conditions
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location
Physical Requirements
- Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
- Job involves sitting most of the time but also requires walking or standing for brief periods
- Must be able to talk and hear to communicate safely around heavy rolling equipment
- Must perform job functions including pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
