Operator Loader

About the role

The Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. The role includes cleaning, maintaining, and securing all equipment as directed.

Responsibilities

• Operate front-end loader to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage areas, to feed conveyors, hoppers, and to load trucks or railcars
• Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate loader
• Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front-end loader to force bucket into bulk materials
• Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle to work site, and moves levers to dump material
• Verifies amount of aggregate in storage bins and fills hoppers to ensure adequate quantity and quality of raw materials is maintained
• Performs routine maintenance on loaders, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning
• Participates in making sure the quality and quantity of raw materials meets established standards
• Ensures assigned established performance indicators are met
• Works toward improvement of the assigned plant and surrounding area
• Fulfills all established procedures to ensure that the plant for which he/she is working is in compliance with state, federal, and local regulations and requirements
• Confers with plant superintendent, batch person, and other personnel to resolve problems, provide immediate feedback, and may recommend solutions to improve performance
• May haul cement and/or additives from storage area in bulk or bags
• Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
• Meets or exceeds company safety standards
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned by management

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities include reading, writing, and speaking English
• Bilingual a plus

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English
