About the role
The Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. The role includes cleaning, maintaining, and securing all equipment as directed.
Responsibilities
- Operate front-end loader to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage areas, to feed conveyors, hoppers, and to load trucks or railcars
- Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate loader
- Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front-end loader to force bucket into bulk materials
- Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle to work site, and moves levers to dump material
- Verifies amount of aggregate in storage bins and fills hoppers to ensure adequate quantity and quality of raw materials is maintained
- Performs routine maintenance on loaders, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning
- Participates in making sure the quality and quantity of raw materials meets established standards
- Ensures assigned established performance indicators are met
- Works toward improvement of the assigned plant and surrounding area
- Fulfills all established procedures to ensure that the plant for which he/she is working is in compliance with state, federal, and local regulations and requirements
- Confers with plant superintendent, batch person, and other personnel to resolve problems, provide immediate feedback, and may recommend solutions to improve performance
- May haul cement and/or additives from storage area in bulk or bags
- Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
- Meets or exceeds company safety standards
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities include reading, writing, and speaking English
- Bilingual a plus
