About the role

Implement the Production Fulfillment Process for fabricating parts according to work orders and customer requirements. Ensure machinery is set up, operates properly, and produces materials that meet company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards. This is the second of four levels for CNC machining center operators, involving setup, adjustment, programming, and operation of numerically controlled machine tools for repetitive work to close tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple types of fabrication equipment, including CNC machining centers, to produce custom parts per customer orders and instructions.
• Set up, adjust, and operate machinery using programming instructions, operational data, and setup instructions (e.g., tool arrangements, clamping methods, machine calibrations).
• Run more than one machine simultaneously as needed.
• Follow written instructions and interpret basic to intermediate blueprint specifications.
• Perform work independently with minimal defects, recognizing tooling and procedures within established tolerances.
• Check parts for conformance to customer specifications and complete work order paperwork.
• Maintain accurate counts and perform packaging duties.
• Participate in cross-training to learn department equipment and processes.
• Perform routine daily machine maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Provide guidance, feedback, and positive behavior modeling to team members.
• Assess tools for damage and safe condition before use.
• Suggest improvements for production and order processing efficiency.
• Assist with training other team members.
• Follow safety rules, quality standards, and company values.

Requirements

• Knowledge of machining techniques and methods.
• Familiarity with CNC machine tool operating procedures.
• Ability to communicate work order priorities with supervisors and adapt to emergency orders.
• Basic to intermediate math skills and aptitude for using measuring instruments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in CNC machining or equivalent.
• High School Diploma or GED with prior hands-on, vocational, or job-related training.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing industry is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to talk or hear.
• May need to sit and reach with hands and arms.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include adjusting focus.

Work Environment

• Typical shop environment; not climate-controlled and subject to outdoor weather conditions.
• Exposure to distracting sounds and noise levels.
• Frequent exposure to fumes/dust particles; may require use of respirators or other PPE.
• May come in contact with toxic or caustic chemicals.

Pay

$27.00/hour base pay + 15% shift premium (based on experience).
