About the Role

As an Operator, you will load, unload, and inspect parts during the machining process. You will be responsible for the quality of the parts being produced and for achieving production standards. This position involves de-burring, polishing, and cleaning parts at the machine on some work.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines with routine supervision.
  • Perform basic math calculations, including addition and subtraction of decimals.
  • Maintain dimensional tolerances between ±.0003”-.005” or greater.
  • Interpret basic dimensions on a print.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, etc.
  • Load, unload, and inspect parts being machined while maintaining published PPH (parts per hour).
  • Operate a minimum of 1 bar feed lathe or a Mill, along with performing secondary operations.
  • Maintain accurate part counts, fill out Box Tags, and update the Job/Quantity Tracker.
  • Report and ask supervisor/lead for assistance with any machining problems.
  • Follow documented operator procedures such as inspection check sheets and posted operator notes.
  • Maintain a clean work area and observe all safety procedures.
  • Execute machine offsets and insert changes with direction from supervisor or lead-person.
  • Produce parts with less than 2% scrap rate on a consistent basis.
  • Operate a variety of Lathes and Mills, along with secondary operations with routine supervision.
  • Operate a minimum of 2 bar feed Lathes simultaneously.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of CNC functional and technical skills, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking.

  • Excellent judgment and decision-making capabilities.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience working with controls and instrumentation, equipment maintenance required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or manufacturing quality environment preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing environment.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires walking, standing, bending, and lifting for long periods of time.
  • Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on a computer.
