Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews blueprints to determine setup procedures to follow, machine tools required and stock to use.
  • Selects machine tooling and installs them on the machine.
  • Capable of setting guide bushings, collets and working with bar feeders with minimal supervision.
  • Loads and edits as required machine programs.
  • Makes a trial run and tests for conformance to specifications using gauges, comparators, micrometers and calipers.
  • Adjusts the machine to attain specified tolerances.
  • Understand blueprints and be able to use a variety of precision measuring devices.
  • May recommend program and or tool changes to resolve production problems.
  • May make tools and attachments, such as forming tools and cut-off tools, if not in stock.
  • Responsible for form tool sharpening and maintenance.
  • May work/train in other departments where needed.

Required EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in CNC operations and setup, specifically Swiss-style machining/turning
  • Proficiency with basic CNC setup, offsets, and tool changes
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T symbols
  • Skilled in using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of machining principles, speeds/feeds, and material properties
  • Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in a machining environment
