About the Role
We are a trusted partner to our customers when it comes to innovation and have one of the strongest R&D, product formulation, and technical teams in the industry. We are recognized as the leader in plant-based softgel innovation and our ability to encapsulate difficult formulas. As an Operator I in the packaging department, you will operate machines in a packaging or powder area as well as perform packing and inspection duties. You are responsible for ensuring that the particular machine(s) are performing to production targets and according to Safety, SOP, GMP, and FDA regulatory compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Proficient on one or more machines in a packaging line while meeting targeted production numbers with no Quality or Safety infractions, including operation of ancillary equipment (Heat Tunnel, Printers, Sealers).
- Understand the specifications indicated on the packaging batch record for each product packaged.
- Prepare all necessary supplies and equipment to perform the job.
- Setup, run, and make any necessary adjustments to the machines assigned to properly meet the packaging requirements of the product specifications in the batch record.
- Ensure Quality requirements of product specifications are met including incoming materials, running work-in-process, and finished product.
- Monitor product quality.
- Fill out appropriate paperwork at the beginning, end of each lot, and shift.
- Report process and equipment problems to supervisor or lead.
- Ensure batch records, equipment logbooks, and other relevant records are current.
- Clean and maintain processing rooms and equipment.
- Assist in training employees on equipment, documentation, quality checks, and safety responsibilities.
- Follow established department SOP's, cGMP regulations, and batch record instructions.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain a safe work environment and operate in a safe manner.
- Perform other job duties related to the job, as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED Certificate; and/or
- Three (3) or more years of work experience in a fast-paced work environment in manufacturing.
- Any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the level of knowledge, skills, and experience needed to successfully perform the job.
Work Environment
- May involve exposure to allergens such as Soy, Wheat, Fish, Shellfish, Milk, Egg, Tree Nuts, and Sesame.
- Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time during work shifts.
- Routinely required to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, reach, pull, push, and tilt objects in the performance of job functions.
- Lifting limitations for this position: 25-30 lbs. May have to manipulate heavier containers.
