About the role

As an Excavator Operator at United Infrastructure Group (UIG), your primary function is to operate an excavator efficiently and safely on construction sites. You will be involved in the construction, maintenance, and repair of highway, heavy civil, and building structures. In addition to operating the excavator, you will assist with various duties around the job site as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate an excavator to complete tasks such as digging, excavating, and moving/transporting materials like dirt, rocks, and other aggregate.
  • Load and unload materials following proper operating procedures.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks; oil, grease, service, and make normal maintenance adjustments on equipment.
  • Complete paperwork and other documentation as needed.
  • Perform maintenance checks, implement safety measures, handle inventories, repair and maintain equipment, and remove debris.
  • Set up or inspect equipment prior to operation.
  • Become familiar with digging plans, machine capabilities and limitations, and efficient and safe digging procedures.
  • Observe hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating machines to ensure work meets specifications.
  • Receive written or oral instructions regarding material movement or excavation.
  • Move materials over short distances, such as around a construction site.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of operating experience preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Must communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn.
  • Good manual dexterity; may require standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting for long periods.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to control operations of equipment or systems.
  • Monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure proper machine function.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction or repair of bridges, highways, and roads.
  • Must follow UIG’s policies and procedures and support its mission.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Able to pass a drug test.
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Open to working different shifts as needed by the project.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the jobsite every workday (driver's license preferred).
  • Must provide own hand tools (excluding power tools).
  • Willingness to travel for project requirements (multi-state opportunities).
