About the role
The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy mobile equipment, including front end loaders, backhoe loaders, skid steer loaders, and haul trucks.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily or pre-shift inspections on vehicles and operate them safely.
- Operate all mobile and heavy-duty equipment on site (dozers, loaders, haul trucks, etc.).
- Perform clean-up work to maintain tools, equipment, and working areas in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
- Comply with company safety rules and regulations.
- Perform related duties such as maintenance/repair and yard loading as needed.
- Understand, interpret, and execute verbal and written instructions.
- Schedule or call for repairs and parts.
- Recognize potentially hazardous situations.
- Adhere to all CEMEX and OSHA rules and regulations at all times.
- Wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
- Meet or exceed company safety standards.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field.
- Ability to work scheduled shift hours and be flexible with scheduling, overtime, and weekends.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English (bilingual is a plus).
Working Conditions
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and outdoor working environments.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location.
Physical Requirements
- Perform job functions including walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, turning, climbing, and operating controls.
- Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and negligible force frequently.
- Regularly required to talk and hear to communicate safely around heavy rolling equipment.
