Operator, Assembler (2nd Shift)

About the role
The Operator, Assembler is an entry-level position involving minor assembly and packaging of products. Employees will learn other jobs with the expectation of advancement as higher-level positions become available.
Responsibilities
- Work under supervision and maintain ongoing communication with supervisors and peers through verbal instruction and reports.
- Ensure materials are properly packaged and place scrap into designated bins.
- Read and comprehend production Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Set up equipment and ensure production materials are available.
- Cross-train on equipment within the identified workgroup and rotate on a set frequency to maintain skill proficiency.
- Fill in for higher-level positions in the event of absence or vacancy once trained.
- Check all material before packaging to ensure it is correct; do not release products until all quality checks are passed.
- Immediately report quality issues to the supervisor or quality manager.
- Follow all safety procedures and rules, including proper use of PPE.
- Review and know all Job Hazard Analyses and Safety Data Sheets for assigned jobs.
- Maintain work areas to 5S standards and perform pre-operation safety inspections.
- Follow all company environmental rules and handle materials to minimize environmental impact.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must read, write, and speak English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to stand and lift heavy loads for long periods, including frequent or constant lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Must tolerate twisting, turning, and repetitive motions for the majority of the shift.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, data entry, and SAP is desirable.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.
Physical/Environmental Demands
- Work in an environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, and potential exposure to industrial liquids, oils, and gases.
- Physical activities include balance, climbing, fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, twisting, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, standing, stooping, walking, and sitting.
Pay
$19.47 – $21.42 per hour
Schedule
2nd shift: 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM
