Operator 3, Bakery-Mixing - 1st Shift

About the role

We are seeking a Mixing Assistant Lead to join our team at our Van Nuys, CA bakery. As a Mixing Assistant Lead, you will support the Bakery Operations Supervisor by planning, organizing, and coordinating Mixing Department activities in the absence of the Lead, ensuring efficient operations and consistent production of high-quality dough that meets all specifications and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Cooking and mixing dough batches to time, temperature, and quality specifications
• Assigning, monitoring, and guiding team members to meet performance and production expectations
• Maintaining ingredient availability, inventory accuracy, and FIFO compliance
• Monitoring dough quality through visual and physical inspection to ensure consistency
• Accurately completing production records and documentation
• Promoting and upholding food safety, sanitation, GMPs, and safe work practices

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 1–3 months of related manufacturing or food production experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work activities in a fast-paced environment
• Clear and effective communication in English (verbal and written)
• Basic math skills, including percentages
• Understanding and operating mixing process controls and temperature/scaling systems
• Ability to pull mixing bowls weighing up to approximately 1,000 lbs. with wheels

Qualifications

• Previous bakery or food manufacturing experience
• Experience leading or training team members
• Working knowledge of GMPs and Lockout/Tagout procedures
• Experience with production documentation and data recording
• Strong problem-solving skills under time and production pressures

Pay

Hourly Rate: $22.00 – $23.75
