Operator 1 - Berkeley

Responsibilities

• Operate various size (up to approximately 100 ton) construction trucks, transporting scrap and/or finished materials to and from marine dock, storage yard, receiving bins and other locations as required
• Understand and comply with policies, procedures and guidelines for the safe operation of the vehicle
• Perform routine inspection of the vehicle prior to operation and noting any problems requiring maintenance
• Perform approved maintenance on vehicle as needed
• Perform fueling and lubrication of the vehicle as required
• Follow proper procedures for loading, traveling and dumping loads
• Follow proper procedures for startup, shut down and lockout of the vehicle
• Ensure the vehicle is clean and in working order at the end of the shift
• Promptly respond to customer requests for service, materials and support
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• A high school graduation certificate or equivalent is desired but not required
• Previous experience operating heavy equipment is a plus
• Must be able to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times
• Must be able to take direction and supervision and work cooperatively with other people
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to work in a sitting position (i.e. vehicle cab) for extended periods of time
• Requires work in all types of weather conditions
• Must be available to work all shifts and weekends

Qualifications

High school graduation certificate or equivalent is desired but not required

Previous experience operating heavy equipment is a plus

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and have thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving

Must be able to take direction and supervision and work cooperatively with other people
