About The Role

We are seeking an Operator 1, Bakery – Oven Relief to join our team at our Swedesboro, NJ bakery. In this role, you will support the baking process by monitoring product quality, maintaining process control of the proofer and oven systems, and ensuring products consistently meet quality and food safety standards. This position is critical for driving operational efficiency, reducing waste, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the production line.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and support proofing and baking equipment to ensure products meet established quality standards and baking profiles.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the baking process, from proofing through cooling, and take corrective actions when needed.
  • Coordinate and provide guidance to team members in the oven area to support efficient operations and training efforts.
  • Maintain process control documentation and complete all required production records accurately and on time.
  • Support continuous improvement activities through daily centerline checks, inspections, root cause analysis, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe production environment while adhering to GMP and sanitation requirements.
  • Follow all health, safety, food safety, and security procedures to ensure compliance and protect employees, products, and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience as an Ingredient Operator or in a related manufacturing/production role.
  • Ability to understand and operate process controls and make necessary adjustments to maintain production standards.
  • Basic knowledge of dough processing, baking operations, or food manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to accurately document production and ingredient-related data in a timely manner.
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret scales, temperatures, and process measurements.
  • Ability to work in a production environment that requires standing for extended periods, frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and working around moving mechanical equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing, bakery, production, or packaging environment.
  • Experience monitoring and maintaining product quality standards in an automated production setting.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement, centerline management, root cause analysis, or lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or providing work direction to production team members.
  • Basic computer skills and experience utilizing production systems, operating screens, or electronic documentation tools.

Shift: 3rd
Weekend availability: Required

Pay

Hourly Rate: $20

Starting pay is based on factors including location, shift, education, skills, and experience.
