Operations Working Supervisor

About the role

This position is responsible for supervising and participating in the operation, repair, and ongoing maintenance of the Library building, grounds, and equipment. Direct supervision is exercised over the work of members of the Operations Department, including Maintenance Mechanics, Library Building Monitors, and Cleaners. Direct work in various mechanical fields may be required, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, HVAC, and/or electrical. The incumbent is also required to supervise and/or participate in various special building and grounds improvement projects.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and participate in the operation, repair, and maintenance of the Library building, grounds, and equipment.
• Direct supervision of Maintenance Mechanics, Library Building Monitors, and Cleaners.
• Perform direct work in various mechanical fields such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, HVAC, and/or electrical.
• Supervise and/or participate in various special building and grounds improvement projects.
• Work under the general supervision of the Library Director with discretion for independent judgment and execution.
• Perform related work as required.

Requirements

• Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an AAS degree in Building or Construction Science, or Engineering, or Architecture or related field and FOUR (4) YEARS experience in large-scale building maintenance operation and/or construction activities, TWO (2) YEARS which shall have been in a supervisory capacity;
• ORGraduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and SIX (6) YEARS of experience in large-scale building maintenance operation and/or construction activities, TWO (2) YEARS which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.

Pay

$55,341 to $61,839, depending on experience.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday-Friday 7am-3pm, with flexibility in schedule when needed.
