About the role

This position operates with minimal instructions on routine tasks and general guidance on new assignments. It involves moderately complex tasks requiring judgment to resolve problems and make recommendations. Decisions may have a minor impact on work unit operations or schedules. The role works under general supervision, with complex situations referred to expert resources. May demonstrate work methods to new employees. Interactions primarily involve the immediate supervisor, co-workers, and team members, with occasional external contacts for factual information exchange and explanations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a range of moderately complex training related to the assembly, modification, and repair of company products.
  • Contributes to the development of training materials to meet new technology requirements, methods, and products.
  • Provides advice regarding modification methods and techniques.
  • Delivers both classroom-based and direct coaching/training as an authorized trainer.

Requirements

  • Must possess specific certifications as defined by site operations.
  • Knowledge of product process flow, product quality, and soldering specifications.
  • Familiarity with SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and quality improvement processes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing information systems.
  • Ability to competently use a wide range of tools to work on products.
  • Ability to recognize problems in the assembly process or with components, highlight, and communicate those problems.
  • Ability to coach specific manufacturing skills for defined processes/products.
  • Ability to analyze job content to produce effective training packages.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and ability to learn/use applications specific to the role.
  • Ability to maintain detailed, accurate, and organized records.
  • Effective communication skills for a variety of internal customers, both one-on-one and in group settings.
  • Basic manufacturing system knowledge.

Physical Demands

Duties are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional to frequent exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, and temperature extremes. The role requires:

  • Periodic light physical effort and exertion, including prolonged repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity and precise hand/eye coordination.
  • Sitting and/or standing in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving/handling materials.
  • Periodic heavy manual effort, including lifting objects.
  • Extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.

All demands are carried out within company and statutory Health and Safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of relevant experience.
  • High school education (Numeracy and Literacy) with additional courses after high school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Educational requirements may vary by geography.
