About the Role
DHL Express is seeking a Clearance Trainer to schedule and deliver training programs—including New Employee Orientation, mandated and recurrent training, and job-specific training—to Gateway Clearance department employees across the Americas. This role involves working in both warehouse and office environments, collaborating with subject matter experts to develop training materials and job aids, and facilitating the CIS (Certified International Specialist) Induction program, a week-long off-site introduction to DHL’s organization and culture for new hires.
Responsibilities
- Schedule, deliver, and facilitate training and development programs aligned with business goals and objectives.
- Conduct virtual training sessions for internal audiences at DHL facilities.
- Lead mandated training programs (air carrier and government-specific), awareness training, new employee orientation, and department-specific training classes.
- Evaluate and confirm training programs meet expected business outcomes.
- Research, design, and develop new training programs, materials, and job aids.
- Ensure training materials are updated, relevant, and aligned with current operational procedures.
- Apply various training methods, including individual auditing/coaching, group instruction, meetings, and workshops.
- Stay current on US Customs Brokerage policies and procedures.
- Track and analyze course evaluations to assess training effectiveness and implement improvements.
- Maintain training files and databases to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (TSA, FAA, US Customs, OSHA, DOT, etc.).
- Manage calendars and schedules for required training classes.
- Design, develop, and maintain reports combining data from PeopleSoft and the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Lead, manage, or participate in cross-functional teams to improve Learning and Development systems and processes.
- Consult with business managers and leaders to identify problems and opportunities for enhancing eLearning and deployment of learning technology solutions.
- Design reports, demonstrate knowledge of data structures, and use reporting tools.
- Lead, manage, and motivate training audiences.
- Work all shifts, including weekends, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Typically requires a BS/BA degree or 5 years of related work experience.
- 2-4 years of proven success as a training professional.
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and accurate.
- Effective stand-up presentation, facilitation, and development skills.
- Understanding of training processes and practices for adult learners.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to changing environments.
- Complete understanding of adult learning concepts.
- Prior instructional design experience strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of Customs Brokerage experience preferred.
- Customs Broker License preferred.
