About the role
The Training Specialist coordinates and executes onboarding and training of plant floor personnel using classroom and on-the-job training for the operation and maintenance of production equipment, job safety practices, quality policies, and procedures for the safe and effective performance of work assignments.
Responsibilities
- Leads and assists in developing training program components and methods of training.
- Supports new employee onboarding, including leading classroom and on-the-job training and coordinating with subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Administers training records, tracks training progress, and reports progress to trainees, supervisors, and stakeholders.
- Evaluates employee proficiency through assessments.
- Coordinates and schedules training with plant resources.
- Accesses, inputs, and exports information from plant computer systems and the learning management system (LMS).
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships across the department, division, group, and company to foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Works assigned schedule as determined by plant location, including flexible hours to provide training to off shifts as needed.
- Champions continuous improvement of plant technical training effectiveness.
- Handles sensitive and proprietary information confidentially.
- Performs additional assignments as directed by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in a technical discipline.
- 4+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in high-speed manufacturing.
- Previous experience training employees.
Skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively train plant floor employees on safe and effective operations of production equipment and processes using adult learning techniques.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects, perform complex tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer systems.
- Strong written, oral communication, facilitation, and presentation skills for all organizational levels.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, fostering inclusivity for new hires and continuous employee development.
- Ability to apply independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard techniques and procedures.
- Professional competence, ethical integrity, and ability to maintain knowledge and skills.
