Operations Technician
About the role
Serán BioScience is seeking dedicated individuals to train as Operations Technicians and Operations Specialists. You will operate and maintain specialized equipment for manufacturing medicine used in early-phase clinical FDA trials, adhering to strict standard operating procedures (SOP) and good manufacturing practices (GMP). All necessary training is provided. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong attention to detail, a safety mindset, and a focus on teamwork to achieve collective goals. No prior experience or education is required—individuals with a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, trade skills, and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
After an initial training period, manufacturing teams are scheduled as 4/10-hour weekdays, with most shifts beginning at 6:00 am. A limited number of mid-shifts with a 1:00 pm start time are available. The operations department is expanding, offering high potential for career growth from Technician to Specialist I/II/III and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Strictly follow standard operating procedures (SOP) and comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Complete documentation, including logbooks, batch records, and quality records.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and stocked production area.
- Clean tools, rooms, and equipment after use.
- Weigh, measure, subdivide, and dispose of product components.
- Safely handle and dispose of hazardous materials.
- Operate specialized machinery to manufacture pharmaceutical products under supervision.
- Work closely and communicate effectively with the operations team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (coursework or experience in chemistry or manufacturing preferred but not required).
- For Operations Specialist roles: minimum of 1 year of GMP experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic math.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize and ask for assistance or delegate tasks when appropriate.
- Ability to focus in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing while monitoring equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 55 pounds occasionally.
- May require working swing or weekend shifts, with the possibility of 12-hour shifts.
- Ability to wear a Tyvek suit with PAPR for extended periods.
- Exposure to constant low-level equipment noise and occasional high-level alarms.
- Work near heat-generating equipment.
- Ability to operate a forklift (training provided).
- Move up and down ladders, kneel, squat, and balance on one foot.
- Move a mop above head while cleaning room surfaces.
