About the Venue
The Owensboro Convention Center is a full-service facility overlooking the scenic Ohio River in downtown Owensboro, Kentucky. It features just under 102,000 sq. ft. of available space, including a 44,000+ sq. ft. exhibition hall, the 8,900+ sq. ft. Kentucky Legend Pier, and additional ballroom, meeting, and prefunction space. The Sportscenter, a historic 5,000-seat arena, hosts concerts, sporting events, graduations, trade shows, meetings, and receptions.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day organizing and maintenance of the convention center and its equipment.
- Setup and tear down of event equipment as designated by event documents.
- Some housekeeping duties before and after events as needed to prepare the space for needed setup.
- Other tasks as assigned to ensure the cleanliness and success of the convention center and its events.
- Complete all tasks as assigned by all members of management in a timely manner.
- Comply with all operating procedures.
- Aid in mentoring/training new employees to correct procedures as directed by management.
- Review and understand event documents to understand the needs of the event and its timeline.
- Communicate timely with supervisors and management regarding scheduling and availability.
- Maintain departmental equipment, notifying the Operations Manager when repairs are necessary.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients to provide a positive employee climate.
Qualifications
- Availability to work scheduled hours will include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Multi-tasking and organizational skills that allow them to complete tasks in a quick and efficient manner as assigned in an at times fast-paced environment.
- Understand and accurately follow verbal, written, and/or diagrammed instructions as set forth by Managers and Supervisors.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and/or in writing.
- Self-motivated to stay on task while working independently on assigned projects.
- Possess interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills for success within the team structure.
- Physically able to work long hours on your feet as well as being able to lift and move heavy objects.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards / requirements preferred but not required.
- Certification or experience in the use and operation of forklifts and/or other heavy equipment is advantageous.
