EarthScope Consortium is seeking a Temporary Operations Support Clerk to support the Instrumentation Services (IS) Facilities Operations Manager in Albuquerque, NM. This is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site position with a salary range of $20.90 - $25.88 per hour, depending on experience. Work authorization within the 50 United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

About the Role

The Operations Support Clerk supports safe, organized, and efficient day-to-day operations at an IS EarthScope facility. This role serves as the on-site point of contact for monitoring building access, tracking vendors, and coordinating maintenance, safety, and equipment management tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and track building access, including verifying identification and authorization for vendors.
  • Assist with monitoring facility work orders and service requests; track progress and follow up as needed.
  • Conduct routine inspections of shared equipment, tools, and facility infrastructure using established checklists; document and address findings.
  • Maintain and update the chemical inventory, including expiration checks, disposal coordination, and quarterly Safety Data Sheet (SDS) reviews.
  • Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance issues during regular facility walkthroughs, including emergency access, fire extinguishers, and first aid readiness.
  • Support facility infrastructure upgrades by coordinating service providers.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of general-use equipment, shared tools, and equipment in designated storage areas.
  • Assist with proper disposal or recycling of obsolete, damaged, or excess equipment and materials.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and order throughout the facility, including common areas and storage rooms.
  • Develop and maintain visual aids for space planning, workspace organization, and safety guidance.
  • Maintain and organize the facility's digital resource space (e.g., Confluence), ensuring accessibility of procedures, checklists, and inventory records.
  • Ensure version control and timely updates of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other facility documentation.
  • Assist with preparing and updating Emergency Response Plans and support planning for audits, safety drills, inspections, and documentation of facility needs.
  • Relay updates and information between the IS Facilities Operations Manager, program managers, and department team members.
  • Arrange services and/or supplies procurement through external vendors, service providers, and community members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned for the successful operation of the business.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn and follow facility access control, visitor/vendor logging, and basic safety procedures.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems and best practices.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to read and interpret facility documents such as work orders, safety checklists, maintenance instructions, SOPs, and emergency response plans.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records for inspections, equipment inventory, chemical tracking, and document version control.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing shared workspaces, storage areas, and digital resources.
  • Ability to identify hazards or maintenance needs during walkthroughs and take appropriate action.
  • Familiarity with occupational safety standards and emergency preparedness practices, including support for drills and audit readiness.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in office support and customer service.
  • Experience with digital documentation systems (e.g., Confluence, Jira, SharePoint).

Schedule

  • Full-time, non-exempt position.
  • On-site at Randolph Rd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
  • Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime and up to 10% travel.

Pay

Salary range: $20.90 - $25.88 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, utilize hand and finger dexterity, talk, or hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.

  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat or cold (non-weather).
  • Noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to use safe forklift operation and lifting methods and techniques.
