About the role
The Operations Support Specialist is a key member of the operations team, supporting the Superintendent and Shop Foreman in the discharge, load, and departure of assigned transportation. This role ensures quality, security, safety, and efficiency in accordance with operational and technical standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Superintendent and Shop Foreman in their duties as directed.
- Work closely with terminal staff to handle cargo safely and according to plans.
- Ensure all required personnel wear PPE and report any violations.
- Support, monitor, and troubleshoot data accuracy, informing terminal staff of discrepancies.
- Report problems and issues to the appropriate Manager.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience operating powered industrial truck-type equipment.
- Basic knowledge or principles of terminal operations.
- Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations.
- Understanding of cargo stowage and stability is strongly desired.
- Problem-solving skills to respond quickly and effectively to operational issues.
- Ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment and be available to work varied hours and days.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
- Must be able to work in rotating shifts, days, evenings, and nights.
- Extremely dusty conditions and occasional high levels of noise.
- Hazardous environments where visibility and hearing may be impaired.
- Drive 50% of the time.
- Operate various types of equipment.
